Citizens May Qualify For Home Mitigation Programs

Floridians may qualify for Hazard Mitigation assistance to help prevent or lessen the effects of future storms. The Florida State Department of Financial Services has announced that it will begin taking applications for its home mitigation program. The department will be accepting application through November 15, 2006. Homeowners interested in this program can find out more information and register for assistance at www.mysafefloridahome.com.

Citizens who do not have access to the internet can call the department’s toll free number at 1-800-342-2762 to request an application be mailed.

Local citizens will soon be able to apply for assistance through Rebuild Northwest Florida’s Hazard Mitigation program. Both programs are designed to provide assistance to prevent or reduce the future effects of natural disasters. REBUILD is currently working on finalizing it own version of a Home Mitigation Program designed to assist moderate to low income families.

Details about the program will be posted on the company’s new website. Citizens who are interested in the organization and its programs can find additional information by logging on to www.rebuildnwf.org.

To obtain additional information about these programs citizens are encouraged to visit the websites for each organization.
